Ideologies Limit our Awareness
The mind has a preference for a framework of reference from which to work out an answer and so existing frameworks like religions and ideologies can seem like a readymade good option.
When we look at any framework of belief through the prescription of our own limitations we perceive something that appeals to our ego as something which promises liberation. Also it might seem more comforting to have others with shared beliefs in the same boat working towards a common goal. This is wired into most people who want to belong to something like a group or tribe. However, another part of the self that itches and wants to be scratched is the yearning for purpose and meaning. Interwoven with purpose and meaning is yet another question which has to be ‘Who am I?’.
Once we reach a point in any religion where we can no longer get to our ultimate truth, then we have to break free and do what all spiritual aspirants have always done… break free and boldly go within and beyond all our opinions, beliefs, ideologies, cultural identities, etc. It is often a scary, lonely and confusing time that we have to pass through to get to a place of divine wholeness that wants to be found.
